Day Trip to Astoria, Oregon

Julian's cub scout group put together a trip to Astoria.  I made my older boys come along as well, which they complained about but in the end I think they all had a great time.

Our first stop was at Fort Clatsop where Lewis and Clark spent a winter during their long trek across the US

The twins and their friend, Landon, hung out eating gold fish and playing cards.

Our next stop was at the Astoria column.  We climbed the stairs to the top of the column and the boys flew little wood airplanes from the top.  Some of the boys went down, retrieved their airplane and then climbed all the way back up to throw their airplane off again.  Not me, once up, once down...I'm good.

While in Astoria we had to get a picture of the house they used in the film "Goonies."  There were a lot of "Do Not Trespass" signs all over...it's sort of lame.  If you buy a house that is used in a popular movie just expect people will drop by and want to take photos.

Our final stop of the day was at Fort Stevens State Park.  The boys loved climbing all around the old fortress.

They loved exploring all the different levels, inside and out, of the fort.

It was a long day but I think everyone had a fun time!
