Hyrum's brother Jacob married his long time partner Aodhan on October 1st in Astoria, Oregon. Since so much family was going to be here for the wedding we decided to add on a Durtschi Family Reunion/Celebrate Oma turning 90 get together!
Our Airbnb was a 5 minute walk to this beautiful beach. The weather was spectacular for October at the Oregon Coast!

We walked along the Astoria waterfront for a bit and saw the sea lions lounging
We went up to the Astoria column and threw some wood airplanes from the top...such a great view from the top of the column

There were tons of pelicans by the river. I think it must have been a migrating flock.
We had to grab some yummy fish and chips at the Bow Picker in Astoria
Then we rode the trolly along the waterfront.
We hiked to Young River Falls. Not only did we get to see this beautiful waterfall but the salmon were also spawning in the river so it was full of fish. Mostly dead fish (because it was the end of the season)
..but it was still cool to see

You can see a couple of ripples in the water where the fish were flapping around, it was hard to get a photo of how many fish were in the water because they are so well camouflaged

Durtschi family photo. We were only missing Cooper and Maddie (they were just up in Oregon a few weeks prior to get married and probably couldn't make it work to come to the reunion) We also missed seeing Avonlea and Anja (Emmett and Rachel's daughters) But it was great that so many people made time to come to the reunion. It was wonderful to catch up with everyone!

It was so great to have a place for everyone to sit because Hyrum dug out a little pit all around the fire
It also helped to contain the little ones from getting too close to the fire:)

We rarely get together as a whole family group with the Durtschi's so this was a fun weekend to see everyone and hear how life is going with all the kids and grand kids and now even great grand kids! I am pretty lucky I married into such a fun family.
