Amazingly my entire family was able to gather for a reunion this year. If you add it up that's the original 10 (Dad, Mom and 8 kids) spouses made up another 6 and then a whopping 23 grandkids:) This year we all met up in Utah. We had family that came from West Virginia, Ohio, Michigan, Wyoming, North Dakota, Idaho and Oregon! We decided to go to the BYU Aspen Grove Family camp because for one price you get lodging, food and all activities. It was really nice not having to worry about meals for that big group and the activities were lots of fun. You could be as busy or relaxed as you wanted all week long. They even have age specific group activities for all the kids so I basically didn't see my kids all week (a total bonus!) It was a bit crowded at times (there were about 200 people at the camp) but I think overall it was a success and we all had a good time.
Julian posing with his stuffed animals inside our little cabin. It was pretty rustic. We had to share a common bathroom/shower with the other cabins around us and there was no air conditioning. Luckily it got pretty cool at night so with the windows all open we slept really well.
Having church in the amphitheater.
Cousins! My boys are super lucky because they have 2 boy cousins that are just about their same age. Sam Gibson (L) and Ethan Israelsen (R) These boys had so much fun together all week!
My dad and I hanging out enjoying the beautiful Utah sun.
Julian enjoying the swings
One of the many family group games we got to play. This was an obstacle course you had to guide this giant ball through.
My sister Paige and her husband Zach made a pair of sticks for each family to take home so we can play the traditional New Zealand Maori stick game. My father served his mission in New Zealand and ever since we were all very young we have played this game together as a family. It was so sweet of Zach and Paige to make us all this gift.
Townsend was really good and it was the first time he had ever played!
Julian hanging out in the common field. It was a really beautiful location, surrounded by mountains.
"Guy Time" My brother Del was having a great time with all his Brother in Laws. It was tough being the only boy growing up and I love that all the guys took an afternoon to hang out together. They went to Sundance and rented mountain bikes. The chair lift took them to the top of the hill and then they could ride down. They went up and down 6 times before calling it quits.
"Girl Time" All my sisters (with my Mom) went out for lunch at Cafe Rio and then went to see the movie Pitch Perfect 2. It was so much fun hanging with my sisters...I love these girls.
Emerson tackling the ropes course. He made it look SO EASY! He just scrambled up like a monkey:)
Here he is repelling down after finishing. I think he was really proud of himself.
Julian was too little for the ropes course but he got to climb the rock wall, which he thought was awesome!
Some of my sisters decided to take on the ropes course challenge...I was not among them. I know when my chubby self won't make it up a ropes course and I wasn't in the mood to be embarrassed:)
They brought out a little train one night and Julian rode it about 4 times:)
Emerson and Townsend took part in an ice cream eating contest. They said they didn't care if they won the contest, they just wanted the free ice cream sandwich:)
If I ever wondered where my twins were they were usually in the game room playing pool or air hockey or ping pong...they loved this room
Julian "made" cookies with Grandma. They were the pre made already in a package cookies but he still had fun setting them out on the cookie sheet to bake.
It's not a Johnson gathering until my Dad brings out his ukulele and we sing songs together:)
The Durtschi's and the DeShetler's hiked out to Stewart Falls one day.
Julian with his cousin Sam Gibson playing in the pool.
My sister DeNae with her cute little baby Owen. The swimming pool was also a big hit with the kids:)
My sisters Riann and Paige get their game faces on for a hard core game of shuffle board
My mom with my niece Kate during the family dance night. I think my mom was in heaven having all her kids and grandkids around.
My boys spent about 30 minutes carefully getting garbage on this moose's antlers. They had to balance the garbage on two pool sticks and then try and place it carefully on the antlers without it falling. I made them take it off in the end but I was impressed with how they worked with their cousins to accomplish this task:)
Standing outside our little cabin on our last day. It was wonderful to be together with all my family. I can't wait to see them again!
