Julian's Birthday

Julian turned 4 years old on February 24th.  I don't usually throw birthday parties for my kids (at least I didn't until the twins were 5) but somehow this year Julian had it is his head that he wanted a birthday party with a "Thomas" cake.  I figured I could handle a few extra 4 year olds for an hour and a half so I decided to go ahead this year with a party.

The "Thomas" cake.  I looked on the internet for different ideas and everyone had these super fancy fondant cakes...well, this was what I ended up with.  I think Julian was happy and the kids all liked it so I guess that's a plus.

All the kids got to paint their own pictures of Thomas.  They all LOVED this.  We also played "pin the funnel on Percy" but I didn't get any photos of that.

Cake time!  He blew out each candle individually so it took him four big breathes but he finally got them all out.  You can see the kids Thomas paintings hanging up in the window to dry, they all turned out really colorful.

Presents.  He got a few lego sets and a new "Percy" train.  He also got a fun Busy Town board game that I have played about 10 times since yesterday, when he had his party:)

It was raining off and on all morning but right at the end of the party the sun came out so I sent all the boys outside with bubbles.  I think it was a fun way to end the party.

Julian is a funny little guy.  He doesn't really have many friends and when I see him at pre-school he is almost always playing by himself with a car or on his own with a puzzle.  I am trying to get him to interact more with kids his age and so this party was a step in the right direction.  He loves to play with me or even with his brothers but when I take him to other kids houses he just plays on his own.

He is a singer.  He loves to sing primary songs and he also sings the zombie song from a game he plays called "plants vs. zombies"  He LOVES to help cook and especially loves it when we are adding sugar because he will just take spoonfuls of sugar and pop them in his mouth until I put the lid back on the container.  He's pretty quick and can sometimes get 5 teaspoons of sugar in his mouth before I can pull it away from him:)

At the park he likes to swing and run obstacle courses that I direct for him..."go down the slide, up the rock wall and through the tunnel"...things like that.  He loves the scooter he got for his birthday and can zip around all over the neighborhood.

I love this little guy so very much.  He is a stinker sometimes and his new favorite thing to say is, "that's stupid" so it's not all sunshine and rainbows all day but he still makes me smile and laugh and he gives pretty good kisses so I guess I'll keep him around:)
